Experience from our previous guests & students…

“My experience at the Afro-Latin Dance Retreat in Tamraght was fantastic. I was able to build so much more confidence in my basics (from footwork and coordination to frame and tension) and felt like I came away with a much deeper understanding about connection and the origins of each dance. I would recommend this retreat to anyone who wants to reconnect with their body and feel more grounded. I came away feeling calmer, more confident in my dancing, and generally replenished.

Miramar is a fantastic teacher. She is attentive to the capability of all her students and instinctively adapts lessons to be inclusive to everyone’s ability and skill. Lessons are fun and vibrant and highly social. They are competitively and fairly priced due to Miramar’s extensive knowlege of the different type of middle eastern dance. Lessons focus on particular dance styles and are open to all people. As a guy I felt included in my interest for middle eastern dance and music. Definitely going to enrol in future classes and hope I see people who read this review there as well!

Hello Flavie, already thank you for all your enthusiasm and love for teaching bellydance. Your classes are so prepared and structured... I've never seen that before. We feel and see the work behind each course you offer. So thank you very much for all your work. Because it's huge. And thanks to the group of girls. The atmosphere is top and benevolent. It's fun to dance together.

Booked one night and ended up staying for four weeks

“The headline says it all. I came to Morocco planning to travel the entire country but ended up spending four entire weeks in the same hostel in the tiny village of Tamraght instead. This was all thanks to Irena, and all of the awesome guys working at the hostel to create the most awesome and welcoming travel experience ever.

Everyone at the hostel really REALLY cares about you and your stay and will go above and beyond to make sure that you love the time you are spending here. I had breakfast (the best one ever!) and dinner almost every day at the hostel, went on the desert trip they arranged and eventually got around to visit Paradise Valley as well. I loved it all and even though I saw so many people come and go during my stay here, I still refused to leave.

This hostel with its communal vibe, caring staff and activities turns strangers into family and I sure hope that you have a flexible schedule when you come here because you will end up extending your stay, over and over again. To me Morocco will probably always be synonymous with this hostel and I could not give you a stronger recommendation to go experience it for yourself.

And to everyone at there - thank you so much for an unforgettable experience. I will miss you all!

“I had never heard about Zouk before this retreat - and now I’m on fire with it! From the moment I saw our incredible teachers, Marina and Salah, dancing during the social, I was mesmerised. It’s such a passionate, sensual dance - full of feeling and connection. At first, the movements seemed easy, but we quickly realised how technical and intricate they actually are. I loved how the dance combined sensuality with precise footwork, and how versatile it is - you can dance close or open, to slow or fast music.

What made this retreat so special was that it wasn’t just about learning steps - we were taught how to feel the music and truly connect with our partner, whether through physical touch or what they called a ‘WiFi connection.’ This approach made me reflect on how we interact with people in daily life - it’s something I hadn’t really thought about before, and it was fascinating to experience.

This retreat has reignited my passion for dance. I’ve been dancing on and off for over ten years, and now I’m inspired to continue both with salsa and Zouk. One of the most unforgettable moments for me was dancing to an entire Zouk song with Salah - it was an amazing sensation I’ll never forget. Beyond the dancing, the whole experience was incredible - the salsa, the deep conversations, the delicious Moroccan food, and the time spent together. I came without many expectations, just wanting to go with the flow, and I left with a renewed love for dance and a heart full of connection. It was the perfect combination of technique, emotion, and joy - I really love it so much.

I would absolutely recommend this retreat! Irena has a special gift for organising, bringing together people, and finding the perfect setting. She is a wonderful, open-minded host who creates an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome. Her attention to detail, warmth, and ability to bring people together made this retreat an unforgettable experience. I’m so grateful to have been part of it and can’t wait for the next one!”

I participated in the Dabki and oriental dance workshop with the very kind talented Miramar. I really appreciated the professional side and the very clear explanations of Mira, she was able to make us evolve in the techniques and gestures during the workshop while keeping a great friendly and warm atmosphere and above all very fun. We danced well, shared good times but also laughed a lot. A super good time, which reconnected us with our body and our emotions. A big thank you to Mira and see you soon in the next workshops.

“I ended up here cause I needed just a couple of nights to relax after busy driving days...well, I stayed ten days.

I have never written a review on tripadvisor before...well, I need to congratulate them! Irena and her partner, the lovely couple who run the place, are amazing and they can help you every questions you have. You will feel like having a big family here, so...come here and enjoy your 2...3...4...5...who knows how many days you're going to stay!”
