Experience from our previous guests & students…
“My experience at the Afro-Latin Dance Retreat in Tamraght was fantastic. I was able to build so much more confidence in my basics (from footwork and coordination to frame and tension) and felt like I came away with a much deeper understanding about connection and the origins of each dance. I would recommend this retreat to anyone who wants to reconnect with their body and feel more grounded. I came away feeling calmer, more confident in my dancing, and generally replenished.”

“I’ve been dancing for about six years now, mostly in Latin America, and can confidently say that Salah is one of the best dance teachers I’ve ever had. He genuinely cares about his students’ progress, is full of knowledge, and provides really clear explanations about body movements. I improved so much in just a few classes and wish I stayed in Tamraght for a longer period of time to continue my classes with him. He’s an absolute gem and I would highly recommend!”

One of the most beautiful places on earth.
“This is one of the most beautiful places on earth. The hostel owner Irena is wonderful and makes you feel at home. We stayed there for a week but could have stayed forever.
We went to Essaouira, Paradise Valley, and the desert - all organised by the hostel for a fair price. The trips have been amazing, and we made some incredible memories. Surf lessons and yoga classes are also very much recommended! If you want to meet great people, enjoy the most amazing rooftop, be close to the beach, get the best Moroccan breakfast/dinner, and discover an amazing country & culture - go there! I want to go back one day. Thanks for everything, Irena!”

Best hostel I've ever visited
“Ive been to a lot of hostels around the world and In none of them have I had an experience quite like this one. When I first emailed to inquire, Irena was very helpful and friendly and told me everything I needed and helped to arrange a taxi from the airport. Once arrived your given tea and a warm welcome from the guests and staff.
It's a small hostel and breakfast and dinner are eating communally and as a solo traveler it was perfect to meet and befriend all the other guests. The food is amazing both breakfast and dinner and very good value for money. It almost felt like a home stay as you’re welcomed in and made to feel as one of the family.
I planned to stay two nights and ended up staying 5 because I couldn't face leaving. This was not a problem and irena laughed and said I could stay as long as I would like. I surfed, did yoga and visited the paradise valley so there is plenty to do. Even the small things are great like even the toilets were always very clean and always smelt lovely. The drinks are run off a honesty system which shows how much of a friendly and homely hostel it is.
Stay here you won't regret it.
Thank you for such a relaxing and great stay.
I will be back!!!!”

“This is a great place to stay in Morocco, whether you are into surfing or not. I originally booked 3 nights but ended up staying for over a week, enjoying the waves, morning yoga, and an excursion to Paradise Valley. Unlike with other hostels, excursions offered are not delegated to some company: you are joined by the owner, Irena, who personally takes care of you. The place itself is very clean, and the rooftop common area is beautiful. Strongly recommended!”

“Salah brings an incredible mix of passion, patience, and energy to every workshop and social dance. I arrived with a strong dance background but weak SKB technique, and his gentle, professional approach always makes me feel comfortable and confident, helping me finally dance without anticipation.
The quality of instruction from both Marina & Salah is international level, and I believe the retreat is lucky to have them as teachers. I wish everyone interested in SBKZ could experience dancing with him.”

“I had never heard about Zouk before this retreat - and now I’m on fire with it! From the moment I saw our incredible teachers, Marina and Salah, dancing during the social, I was mesmerised. It’s such a passionate, sensual dance - full of feeling and connection. At first, the movements seemed easy, but we quickly realised how technical and intricate they actually are. I loved how the dance combined sensuality with precise footwork, and how versatile it is - you can dance close or open, to slow or fast music.
What made this retreat so special was that it wasn’t just about learning steps - we were taught how to feel the music and truly connect with our partner, whether through physical touch or what they called a ‘WiFi connection.’ This approach made me reflect on how we interact with people in daily life - it’s something I hadn’t really thought about before, and it was fascinating to experience.
This retreat has reignited my passion for dance. I’ve been dancing on and off for over ten years, and now I’m inspired to continue both with salsa and Zouk. One of the most unforgettable moments for me was dancing to an entire Zouk song with Salah - it was an amazing sensation I’ll never forget. Beyond the dancing, the whole experience was incredible - the salsa, the deep conversations, the delicious Moroccan food, and the time spent together. I came without many expectations, just wanting to go with the flow, and I left with a renewed love for dance and a heart full of connection. It was the perfect combination of technique, emotion, and joy - I really love it so much.
I would absolutely recommend this retreat! Irena has a special gift for organising, bringing together people, and finding the perfect setting. She is a wonderful, open-minded host who creates an atmosphere where everyone feels welcome. Her attention to detail, warmth, and ability to bring people together made this retreat an unforgettable experience. I’m so grateful to have been part of it and can’t wait for the next one!”

“Marina‘s classes are a blend of engaging exercises, time for individual explorations, and light guidance with a great eye for detail. With her can-do attitude, she transmits passion and that kind of grounded energy that invites you to take the journey with her. In her dance, she combines deep technical embodied knowledge with free flow, creativity, and expression that inspire you to explore and open up to her well-structured ideas and concepts.”

Booked one night and ended up staying for four weeks
“The headline says it all. I came to Morocco planning to travel the entire country but ended up spending four entire weeks in the same hostel in the tiny village of Tamraght instead. This was all thanks to Irena, and all of the awesome guys working at the hostel to create the most awesome and welcoming travel experience ever.
Everyone at the hostel really REALLY cares about you and your stay and will go above and beyond to make sure that you love the time you are spending here. I had breakfast (the best one ever!) and dinner almost every day at the hostel, went on the desert trip they arranged and eventually got around to visit Paradise Valley as well. I loved it all and even though I saw so many people come and go during my stay here, I still refused to leave.
This hostel with its communal vibe, caring staff and activities turns strangers into family and I sure hope that you have a flexible schedule when you come here because you will end up extending your stay, over and over again. To me Morocco will probably always be synonymous with this hostel and I could not give you a stronger recommendation to go experience it for yourself.
And to everyone at there - thank you so much for an unforgettable experience. I will miss you all!”

I ended up here cause I needed just a couple of nights to relax after busy driving days...well, I stayed ten days.
I have never written a review on tripadvisor before...well, I need to congratulate them! Irena and her partner, the lovely couple who run the place, are amazing and they can help you every questions you have. You will feel like having a big family here, so...come here and enjoy your 2...3...4...5...who knows how many days you're going to stay!
