Connect. Move. Explore. Unwind. Recharge.

Zen & Zest is a unique dance retreat blending the high-energy rhythms of Cuban Salsa with the fluidity of Brazilian Zouk, a touch of expressive Afro-Cuban movement, grounding breathwork, authentic Moroccan culture and activity on the coast of Morocco.

Whether you're here to refine your skills, try something new, or simply embrace movement in a vibrant, cultural setting, this retreat has something for you.

Here’s what you can expect…

Beginner dancers, you’ll learn foundational techniques in Brazilian Zouk and Cuban Salsa with expert instructors who break everything down step-by-step in a supportive, non-judgmental space.

You won’t feel left behind – even if you’re brand new – and will leave the retreat confident in your new skillset!

Intermediate dancers, you’ll refine your technique, break through bad habits and explore new ways to express yourself. These workshops will challenge and inspire you to level up your dance and unique style, while developing deeper musicality and inner growth.

Please note: Though you might have a preferred role, everyone here will learn both leading and following! This not only improves your skills and understanding of the technique, but also opens up more dancers for you and makes you a better dancer!

But this is more than just dance…

Our Zen & Zest Retreat offers a full experience of movement, connection, grounding, and culture. Enjoy Morocco’s stunning coastline, unwind with sound healing and restorative yoga, a night of candlelit yin with live piano, breathwork meditation mornings, and soak in the vibrant local culture through a Moroccan traditional Gnawa music show, authentic communal meals, a day trip to a natural gorge… and plenty of add-on activities to choose-your-own-adventure!

Experience from our previous guests & students…

Person smiling in front of a red wall, wearing a blue shirt and a gold necklace.

My experience at the Afro-Latin Dance Retreat retreat in Tamraght was fantastic. I was able to build so much more confidence in my basics (from footwork and coordination to frame and tension) and felt like I came away with a much deeper understanding about connection and the origins of each dance. I would recommend this retreat to anyone who wants to reconnect with their body and feel more grounded. I came away feeling calmer, more confident in my dancing, and generally replenished.

JillParticipant in Afro-Latin Dance Retreat, Tamraght

“I’ve been dancing for about six years now, mostly in Latin America, and can confidently say that Salah is one of the best dance teachers I’ve ever had. He genuinely cares about is students’ progress, is full of knowledge, and provides really clear explanations about body movements. I improved so much in just a few classes and wish I stayed in Tamraght for a longer period of time to continue my classes with him. He’s an absolute gem and I would highly recommend!”

Celene—Private student of Salah’s during her time in Tamraght.

“Salah brings an incredible mix of passion, patience, and energy to every workshop and social dance. I arrived with a strong dance background but weak SKB technique, and his gentle, professional approach always makes me feel comfortable and confident, helping me finally dance without anticipation.

The quality of instruction from both [Marina & Salah] is international level, and I believe the retreat is lucky to have them as teachers. I wish everyone interested in SBKZ could experience dancing with him.”

Zoe—Tamraght resident, dancer and student.

"I had never heard about Zouk before this retreat—and now I’m on fire with it! Watching our teachers, Marina and Salah, dance was mesmerising—it’s such a passionate and sensual dance, but also incredibly technical. What made this retreat special was that it wasn’t just about learning steps—we were taught how to feel the music and connect with our partner, even without touch. It’s had a huge impact on my dance journey, reigniting my passion after more than ten years. Dancing a whole Zouk song with Salah was an unforgettable moment, and the entire experience— from the salsa nights to the Moroccan food—was the perfect blend of technique, emotion, and connection. I really love it so much!"

MichaelaParticipant in Afro-Latin Dance Retreat, Tamraght

“Marina‘s classes are a blend of engaging exercises, time for individual explorations and light guidance with a great eye for detail. With her can-do attitude she transmits passion and that kind of grounded energy that invites to take the journey with her. In her dance she combines deep technical embodied knowledge with free flow, creativity and expression that inspire to explore and open up for her well-structured ideas and concepts.”

Hey, I’m Irena! I’m passionate about dance, culture and creating memorable experiences for people who love to explore new places just as much as they love to dance. I lived and worked in Morocco for years, co-owning an award-winning surf and yoga hostel in Tamraght. That experience taught me the joy of bringing people together and showing them the beauty of this region through adventure and connection.

Now, I’m combining my love for travel, culture, and dance into various holidays and retreats for avid dance enthusiasts or first-timers wanting a safe, creative and fun space to reconnect with themselves, their love of life, and explore this passion with new like-minded friends. Morocco is close to my heart, and I can’t wait to share it with you.
